Hands-on acting classes lead by TV and film veteran Paula Jai Parker.


Session One

Week One: ACTING ON CAMERA/HOSTING
In the first class, actors will explore the importance of being “yourself” on camera, especially when playing a character. They will be taught the basics of interviewing, news casting, and hosting.

Week Two: ACTING ON CAMERA/COMEDY
The second class teaches the performer comedic timing and comedy acting techniques for the camera. ie sketch comedy; improv; sitcom acting.

Week Three: ACTING ON CAMERA/FILM
The final in-house class explores dramatic acting for films. Students will explore the most popular methods of dramatic acting on screen used by working actors today. Through filmed scene work and monologues, they will discover their voice.

Week Four: ACTING ON CAMERA/THE REAL DEAL
Our kids will learn to produce, edit, direct, write, shoot, light, run audio and perform in their very own TV Series. Hosted by Pasadena Public Access Television and aired on public access channels nationwide.

Locations

Week One, Two, and Three acting classes take place at the beautiful Inside The Frame studio in Sierra Madre, California.

About your teacher

In addition to Paula's on-screen career she has an impressive teaching background
∙ Howard University in D.C., her alma mater, has hosted Paula on numerous occasions presenting her Masters Class to senior students.
∙ CBS hired Paula in 2012 to direct their prestigious Diversity Showcase.
∙ Paul Newman extended the coveted invite to Paula to participate in The Sundance Writers lab, where she mentored Behn Zeitling, helping him bring his Oscar nominated film “Beasts of the Southern Wild” to life.
∙ Paula directed and produced the 2018 Talent Show that featured over 80 acts performed by  Sierra Madre Elementary School and Sierra Madre Middle School students.

Paula's mentoring has jump started the careers of such notables as Chris Tucker, Marlon Wayans, Nick Cannon, Anthony Anderson, Taraji Henson, Regina Hall, and Kerry Washington, to mention just a few.
